Thompson looks like an All-Star right now.  I'm not really even joking.  96 on a heavy 2-seamer that he puts at the bottom of the zone is going to yield exactly what it's doing tonight: 3 groundouts to SS in 2 innings.

That was really nice hitting by Garrett.  Hands all the way inside the ball on a fastball up and in.  Instead of a lazy fly to left center, you get a rocket to the opposite field right off the barrel.

Love it. Want him as the backend of a bullpen

Good pickup for Hudson at the deadline in 2021. Also hit Barley who is still in the system.

interesting they went to Edwards.  with a game tomorrow then the off day, could go 2 days in a row if there is a lead to protect tomorrow.

for a pathetic team, they have not lost by more than 2 runs since the 3rd game of the Rays series.

Carpenter and Frandsen wetting themselves praising Garcia for hitting a single on a ball well out of the zone...also known as swinging at ball four.

They've been in competitive games or winning since 4/5, but there's just a sense of no tension because you feel down 1 or 2, it's done.

As a fan there's no stress watching these games because of low expectations. It's a relaxing experience.

Theyve been competitive against bad teams

sure, although Cleveland will have a winning record and contend and the Angels could be decent.

Still, even against bad teams, there isn't a sense "we can pull this out" when down a run in the 6th

Ididnt feel like this team was competitive against the Guardians. They certainly werent against theit A bullpen. The Guardians are simply a low scoring team.

The biggest issue seems to be that the Nats dont score after the starter is pulled.
