Opening Day Roster
« Topic Start: March 28, 2023, 09:44:11 AM »
I guess they have not made all the decisions yet?  Was listening to the Nats Talk podcast and Zuckerman discussed why they optioned Espino.  Said he will be starting there although better as a reliever in MLB. I don’t know who the other starters in Syracuse will be. Abbot?

They also discussed Hobie Harris who I had not heard much about. Seems to have come out of nowhere to probably make the roster.  Control has apparently been his major issue in the past although he doesn’t throw that hard.

At Rochester, there's a number of other candidates, but Espino, Irvin, Abbott, Adon, might be the favorites, with Wily Peralta if he sticks around and they want to keep him stretched out.  I'm not sure of Tetrault's health, but he might be another candidate.  Cole Henry would be a candidate once he is healthy.

As far as the MLB roster, they have 26 lined up, but the hang up is whether there's any guy on waivers from other teams who they might like.  The bench is penciled in as Riley Adams, Vargas, Call, and Michael Chavis, but they picked up Chad Pinder from the Reds who might bump Chavis.

As for the bullpen, there are 5 solids (Finnegan, Edwards, Harvey, Erasmo Ramirez, and Thad Ward), plus 3 current likelies: Banda as a the lefty, Mason Thompson, and Hobie Harris.  I guess Harris is one of the camp surprises who was not on the radar before the spring. Banda throws hard but has always had poor command.  It'll be interesting to watch his walk totals.
