Announcer Doug Gottlieb says he was mistaken in reporting that Freddie Freeman never saw the Braves' final offer. Gottlieb now says his "sources" were wrong: Casey Close did pass the offer to Freddie.

Quote
Fox Sports’ Doug Gottlieb shocked the sports world two months ago, claiming Freddie Freeman’s former agent Casey Close did not provide his client with a final contract offer from the Atlanta Braves. Turns out the sports world was shocked for good reason, as Gottlieb has now retracted the report.

“Casey Close never told Freddie Freeman about the Braves (sic) final offer,” Gottlieb tweeted on June 29. “That is why Freeman fired him.”

Freeman fired his agent, so there was a disconnect somewhere. I'd guess his agent told him that the Braves would increase their offer, and when they didn't, Freeman took the Dodgers offer.

Or Freeman was embarrassed by the entire situation, knows this is his last big contract anyways, and fired his agent to save face. Braves fans won't even see the retraction and will keep the narrative that their boy wanted to stay but HOLLYWOOD AGENT Close freaked him.

I read an article that said the agent is still listed as Freeman's.
