C'mon!  The tenor of the posts I'm talking about are not just tweaking. 

It's not a big deal, and it shouldn't be.  Not gonna get upset about a fan board.  But I do wish sometimes that there could be civil discussion about the team without it turning into Rendon smiling at the wrong time, Zimmerman doing drugs, Harper/Rizzo/Lerner is (fill in the blank), and anyone who disagrees is an idiot.  The mods on here are great, and there are some who just want to discuss various aspects of the team without turning it into a pile-on.

There are usually some threads going where you can have an interesting discussion.  It's pretty much the same as on any other discussion board.  The breakdown of civil society.  Easy to attack from behind the keyboard.  Even I do it sometimes!

It's not like the Ryan Zimmerman or Gio Gonzalez PED thing was invented here.  It's an easy target for a joke...

I think a lot of the "negativity" you see is just sarcastic banter between members who can't really point to much to take from a lost season.  I freely admit that I don't give a crap about the Cy Young, ROY, or other personal awards.  If Scherzer pitches a gem, which he does more often than not, and we still lose...we still lose. 

If you came to a WNFF M&G, I think you'd see that most of us really are fans of the team and want them to do well...despite our weaker moments...

Some people take it too seriously.  Others are just tweaking the optimists.  It's kind of fun.

I think it's all in good fun. If you take anything on this board  (or anything with baseball) too seriously you need to seriously reconsider your priorities.

But I do think some people (mostly the Negative Nancys) who are a constant pia and drone on a bit too long when things are not going well. It's all the time and it's constant. It's just the way they interact with the game (or at least the board) for whatever reason. And when that starts to get on my nerves I just get off the board for a while. It's like back in the day when I used to hang out in bars. When some regulars would start to get on my nerves, I would just move on to another bar.

It is that psychological dependency  which makes the players and owners stinking rich

I do find it an interesting aspect of human nature that so many fans, when their team does poorly, feel a personal anger at the players who haven't performed well and attribute their failures to lack of character rather than just an inability to perform certain athletic feats.

It’s emotional protection for the snowflakes. They don’t want to be vulnerable to disappointment. Sports is entertainment. I’m not sure why anyone would follow it if it made them unhappy.

Greg - Probably should change to the thread title to something like "Time to Face Reality and Tell it Where to go" to reflect that this is for optimism and hope, not a discussion of likely or dreaded outcomes.  I'll leave it to you.
