Local (DC) sport's broadcasting .... LOD

I'm not going to get into the finances/advertising of the local stations.   We all know how that works but I wanna place to rant about some of the local broadcasters.    Charlie and Dave are probably above rants  ...   unrantable but talk radio and some of our play by play/color guys are   ....  fill in the blank.    What got me started was listening to 106.7 this morning.   Every other day, I do a 6 mile walk and turn 'em on for company.   Today, they could discuss the NBA playoffs, the NHL playoffs, the Mets/Nats series, etc.   They're startin' off with a discussion of the "under 25 year old all-'skins' team for 2016".

I've just accepted they give the audience what they want- their listeners care about the skins and whatever local team is currently in the playoffs and nothing else. I don't think it's a conspiracy so much as market research and rating driving coverage

I meant the thread as who drives you nuts.   No doubt it's commercial driven.   The "commercial" in this town is 'skins.    But the under 25 years old 'skins' team for 2016?    Funny thing is I was doin' my walk and 106.7 went to a segment about who on the national scene grates on you.       

Locally, I find Grant Paulsen irritating.    He went to the Berman/Blitzer/Hillary Clinton school of speech.    The more excited they get, the screechier they become.    All the knowledge in the world can't cover the screech.    Paulsen wants to do play by play someday.   I hope he gets the 'skins' radio gig.   That way I know I'll never have to listen to him again.

Maybe I should retitle the thread but I'm lookin' for local sport's folks who drive you nuts.    No happy horsecrap about Charlie and Dave  ...   thus, the LOD in the title.   It can be radio/TV/play by play or color for a local team.    Who is it?

Meh, I'm just happy the old czabe Andy show is back- Cooley galdi czabe all seemed like they started to despise each other and it got uncomfortable to listen to

The Wizards radio due of Dave Johnson and Glenn Consor (especially the latter with his tell-it-like-it-is style) on FM-99.1 is also pretty solid. Walton on the Caps radio broadcasts may be too much of a Screamy Mimi at times (like his predecessor Kolbe - and I still miss Ron Weber) but he is into the game and avoids excessive editorialising (and is preferable to the NBC NHL television coverage - but then again so is the sound of 10,000 sets of fingernails scratching 10,000 blackboards).

The only time I absolutely prefer the telly to the radio is for the Redskins - their radio broadcasts with Sonny and Sam remain one of the most effective soporifics available without a prescription. DC United even has decent radio broadcasts on FM-106.7 on non-Nats days but ideally one really needs the video there.

Nats? Charlie & Dave all the way - better on an intergalactic scale than both MASN and the RedSox/Cardinals/Dodgers/Yankees Game of the Week (d/b/a ESPN Sunday Night Baseball, both radio and telly versions).

As far as the non-match programming on FM-106.7, it's still usually at least a bit too Redskins-centric for my liking but, as noted in an earlier post, that's the market here (and in football/basketball seasons prime time can often get overly Virginia Tech- and Georgetown-centric - I don't follow colleges). If it gets that way I simply turn it off and switch over to my massive music collection - the power of personal choice is a good thing.
