We would not have been able to rally like the Mets last night, because our lineup would not have been patient enough to take 6 walks in an inning.  Hero ball would have taken over and each of them would have tried to hit a 5 run homer, like Desmond in the 7th last night with 3 of the most hellacious swing and misses I have ever seen.

but you see, that's what he does.  That's the way he plays the game.

That's a great point.  Don't do what gave us 7 runs, no, instead swing from the heels and try to kill the ball.  K's out the ass.

Your exactly right. Darnaud messed it up for them by swinging at the 2-0 pitch or they would have had more.

This goes to preparation, which from the beginning of the season was sorely lacking. Williams has enough issues with in-game management as we know, but it is this lack of preparation and effectiveness of a talented roster that demanded a change long ago, at least if the goal of contention this year was a top priority.  If not, the effect of long-term damage to roster cohesion (as well as keeping the core of Harper and Rendon happy) should also be a motivating factor, though we have yet to see evidence of that on the priority list either.

He's desperate for offense. The Orioles scored 2 runs tonight against the Rays, in the 9th inning - in an 11-0 blowout. So I assume, up by 11 runs, the Rays sent out a double-A pitcher to finish up the game. And they still only scored 2 runs off that guy. At home.

It's bad around town right now.

...and their attendance is plunging too - in their most recent home series, against the Rays (admittedly not a potent away draw) on 31st August and 1st-2nd September (Mon/Tue/Wed) none of the three fixtures broke 23k and the finale drew just 15,963. Even the Yankees and Red Sox visits aren't the guaranteed sell-outs they once were...and the once-storied (now 23-year-old) ballpark isn't the drawing card it once was.
