They closed the season 27-16 and they were WAY further back than we are.  If anything you just made a case for why the Nats are still clearly in this thing.  But I know you're not big on facts so I'm sure you'll just ignore that.

Yeah, they got hot once they fell completely out of it and traded everyone, taking the pressure off. Good for them. Let's follow that model!

The thought of Detwiler against all those right-handed bats tomorrow is sickening. I'm sure that will go swimmingly.

Strasburg just mentioned that his curveball was terrible in the bullpen...

Someone, Jim Lett or Storen himself SOMEBODY must have seen how terrible Storen would be in the game.  This borders on malpractice, knowing that he's going to be bad and then letting him finish the inning when it's clear very quickly that he doesn't have it.

Storen was Henry Rodriguez tonight.

His ERA also rose from an awful 5.40 at the start to an even more awful 5.58 after that 10 start stretch.

That's a little unfair.  Henry was Henry because he was always Henry.  Drew has only given up an ER in 2 of his last 18 outings so you could actually make a strong argument that this was a very un-Storen like performance.

my point is that about 10 days ago he shut out Atlanta over 7IP.  He's not a stud, but he's not Dan Haren either.

Glad to see fans have stopped coming. Send a statement that we're not tolerating this white-hot garbage anymore.

Less fans = less money = less resources to fix problems.  So you're saying you want less money to spend on the team?

That's a little unfair.  I had tickets to both yesterday's game and tonight's game and nearly didn't attend either because I was certain on both occasions that the game wouldn't be played due to rain.  I attended both, $1 dogs one night and $1 ice cream on the other, and was very surprised that neither even had a delay.

If the weather was nice, they could have easily drawn another 5-6k each, especially with Harper just coming back.

Less money = more incentive for the richest owners in baseball to right the ship, and make some changes.
Yeah that worked out great last decade.

Why can't we be in the crapfest that is the NL West? DBacks getting pounded again, Giants get no hit, San Diego loses. The Dodgers will probably win that division.

Because I think Wahington D.C. is on the east coast.

Recipe for failure...fail to capitalise on early scoring opportunities (that first inning became increasingly paingful to listen to), let a struggling opposition pitcher regain his confidence....

I didn't go either last night or Monday and am not going tonight - sorry but I'm not wasting $10 return on Metrobus/rail just to stand in crowded areas of the 300's (as rain cascades in through the numerous openings) waiting out a rain delay (in addition I have to go to work at 06.00, and Metrobus effectively knocks off in our neighbourhood at midnight).

That could be part of it, but it hasn't always affected attendance - our home attendances through the years on 2nd July:

39,638 - 2011 - a Saturday vs Pirates, 'traditional doubleheader'*, 14,761 over season average
24,897 - 2013 - a Tuesday vs Brewers, 8365 below season average
24,410 - 2010 - a Friday vs Mets, 1842 over season average
24,015 - 2007 - a Monday vs Cubs, 202 below season average
23,823 - 2006 - a Sunday vs Rays, 2757 below season average
23,583 - 2009 - a Sunday vs Mets, 868 over season average

[Nats were either on the road on 2nd July in 2005 and 2008 and were travelling on that day in 2012]

*caused by the most outrageous weather re-scheduling in Nats history (remember the weekday midday match we were supposed to play which was postponed due to rain that never made the slightest appearance?).
