So here we go again with another one of those potential 'turning point' wins (this was discussed post-match on the radio at some length last night).

Now here we are with a homestand coming up, facing the Rockies minus Tulowitzki, and then a Diamondbacks series in which we won't have to face Corwin (he was originally scheduled to pitch their home finale against the Reds on Sunday, but has been moved back to Saturday for a Fox telecast).

Will the Nats use this as their jumping off point for getting back into the playoff race...or will this just be another cul-de-sac like so many 'turning point' wins earlier in the season?

What the hell is it with closers that blow saves? Papelbon spent his post-game interview criticizing his teammates positional awareness.

Soriano-esque.

We can hope it sows discord in the Philthies clubhouse, which spreads like wildfire and destroys their on-field composure.

The D-Backs moved a starter only because of a Fox game?  Seems ridiculous to me.

I distinctly recall seeing his name on the ESPN.com schedule as tabbed for Sunday's finale - but checked again and he is now scheduled to start Saturday, and that match is on Fox.

Ok as long as they have not said that the sole reason for the change is to get him on a televised Fox game.  I'd guess/hope it had to do with rotation and/or another pitcher needing a day off, etc.

(1) Was Papelbon gobsmacked?

(2) Filly fans were gutted after Desmond's grand-slam.

(Note: with no OC on the game thread, I had to provide some appropriate comments. As Jayson Werth said earlier, "Taking an idea from a Spurs great, we want to come in and bite their faces off. We don't want win just because they die of boredom".)
