From the list of non-sweepers I compiled in the Legion of Doom thread, us, Cubs, Rockies, Reds,  A's, Pirates, Padres and Giants, the Reds and Pirates have dropped off the list.  Now it's down to six teams.

Now, it's down to five teams.

Do I get a prize for predicting the date when we'd get our first sweep?  Actually Kevrock said it first.

In spite of all the injuries, this team is tracking pretty close to the 1925 team, which started 29 - 17...with no injuries, three future Hall of Famers, and five guys in the lineup hitting over .300.

In a week or two Morse should return.

Yes.  The keys to The Chief's car.

(But he'll probably re-key the lock.)

Mild right hamstring strain per our radio team.  He was not scheduled to play tomorrow at 1:10 pm anyway.

Just got back from Turner Field! Amazing game to attend, and glad I could witness our first sweep of the year in person. BTW Bryce's homer was amazing in person. Such a towering shot that just sounded different off the bat. Espinosa put on a show in BP.

Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 29th win, each season:

2012 - 27th May (47th match of season)
2005 - 3rd June (55th match)
2010 - 9th June (60th match)
2006 - 9th June (62nd match)
2011 - 11th June (65th match)
2007 - 14th June (66th match)
2008 - 15th June (71st match)
2009 - 25th July (97th match)

---

Well...so much for the national-telly jinx and the inability to sweep a series....

---

THIS DAY WITH THE '05 OVERACHIEVERS: Friday 27th May 2005 saw the Nats open a three-match series at St Louis...and lose that opener, 6-3. Tony Armas Jr took the loss (5 IP, 5 runs all earned, 5 walks, two strike-outs, allowed 2-run homer to Jim Edmonds who had been in a 1-for-14 slump); Matt Morris pitched 7 innings (8 strikeouts, no walks) to pick up the win. Nats lost their fourth straight, overall record now 24-24; box-score http://espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=250527124. This series would also be the Nats' only visit to old Busch Stadium since the relocation; New Busch would open the following season.

---

I caught both radio feeds last night and the ESPN radio feed (AM-980) was WAY later than the FM-106.7 feed...I switched from the Nats feed to the ESPN feed in the middle of the ninth and got to hear the final Nats out twice - the difference in the relays must have been at least 10sec.

---

Nats are 11 games over .500 for the first time since 25th July 2005 (55-44).

Thought I would add my two cents. We got the sweep monkey and national TV monkey off our backs. If we could only get the DL monkey off our backs this team would exceed all our expectations.

Reality time. With last nights victory we are one game above .500  (15-14) from our 14-4 start.

Isn't that what we were saying, though?  Start out 14-4 and go .500 the rest of the way and we have a legit shot at the playoffs.

Even the 1906 Cubs, holders of the modern MLB record for best regular season (116-36, .763), had their dry spells: http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHC/1906-schedule-scores.shtml (actually they saved their biggest dry spell for last, when they blew the Series to the 'Hitless Wonders' White Sox, 4-2, in the only all-Windy-City World Series ever).

We're also 5-1 to start the toughest stretch of our season. If we have a .500 record through this stretch against the best teams in baseball (AL East & NL East) we're in pretty good shape. If we stay hot and continue winning against these teams? :az:

Edit: I forgot I should count the Orioles as part of our tougher stretch. I had the Phillies series circled as the start of our toughest stretch but things change. Factor in the O's series and we're 6-3 to start the stretch. Still off to a good start.
