Article details some changes to the scouting department.  2 new area scouts added for the northwest and "upper Midwest" but which is basically the dakotas plus the central states west of the mississippi (kansas, nebraska, Missou, and Iowa).

Justin Bloxom has joined the scouting staff.  Also:

The Nationals also lost two other scouts — Reed Dunn to the Braves and Paul Tinnell to the Blue Jays. The Nationals have hired Buddy Hernandez, a longtime Braves scout, to cover Tinnell’s Florida region.

Deric Ladnier, a top scout and special assistant to Rizzo, also will help the amateur scouting staff as a national supervisor this season, joining Mark Baca. The two help Kline with the draft and evaluate the top players across the country. Ladnier will still also juggle special scouting assignment from Rizzo.

When I saw Bloxom play for Lynchburg this year I knew his time was about up. Good for him becoming a baseball lifer!

If only he hadn't died in a byzantine Jesus position at the end.  I get it Clint. I don't need to be hammered over the head with it.

I reviewed that movie for my college paper and gave it 2 stars. The Jesus thing was one reason, the corny "get off my lawn" cliche was another.

I loved the "get off my lawn" line with the gun.  I thought that was a twist from the usual just shouting it like Grandpa Simpson.

As for the ending, it was a bit over the top with the pose, but honestly I liked the contrast to early Clint works where he would have blasted his way out of the situation.  It is as much a statement on the futility of violence as a solution as anything, which is a departure from the whole Clint genre.

Anyone ever see Omega Man with Charlton Heston?  Also dies in a crucifixion pose.

Is it weird that I didn't even notice that? I say that honestly, I guess I just watch for entertainment and not a "message" or whatever. Although movies like Avatar are pretty in your face with their message
