LOS ANGELES -- Actor Dennis Hopper has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and will be canceling all upcoming travel plans to focus on treatment, according to his manager.Hopper will be treated in a special program at the University of Southern California, his manager Sam Maydew announced Thursday."We're hoping for the best," Maydew said, but would not elaborate on Hopper's condition.Hopper recently finished shooting the second season of the Starz drama "Crash," based on the 2006 Oscar-winning film.Hopper's cancer has forced him to cancel an appearance at "Dennis Hopper and the New Hollywood," an exhibition of his photography taking place at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Melbourne.On September 30th, Hopper was hospitalized in New York with flu-like symptoms and stomach pain, but was released the next day and reportedly felt, "much better."Hopper has several film projects in the works which will likely be sidelined.The legendary Oscar nominee has appeared in such major films as "Easy Rider", "Hoosiers", "Speed" and "Apocalypse Now."
Prostate cancer can be exceedingly slow growing or fast and lethal. I lost a cousin at the age of 52 to it. Good luck Dennis.
