Marlins Stadium Passes Final Legal Hurdle
« Topic Start: November 22, 2008, 10:41:22 AM »
The juvie court judge that was handling the lawsuit against the City of Miami, Miami-Dade County, and the Fish finally made a ruling.  For once, the moron actually let the Supreme Court and existing statutes enter into her decision, the the stadium is now fully and formally approved.

All that's left is the issuance of some bonds, but the Miami Mafia won't permit the County to issue them until March/April.  The final artist renderings are supposed to be released to the public within a week or so.

Holy crap, it's really gonna happen?  I'm stunned.

Kind of a shame.  I was looking forward to having the Nats beat up on the Pirates while the Portland Marlins moved to the NL West (and the Rockies to the Central).  Oh well.

Or maybe they'd move the Rockies to the AL West, clear up the whole having-one-division-with-6-and-one-with-4 thing.

This news is so exciting to perhaps the 20 Marlins fans that are actually known to exist.

Couldn't happen that way.  If you had an odd number of teams in each league, you'd have to have at least 1 interleague series at all times, or at least one team in each league with an off day at all times.

This is on a tangent, but I really think they should contract the league.  Get rid of two teams, have two divisions of 7 in each league, and have two wild cards.

I read that Norman Braman was behind the effort to stop the stadium.

That's who it was - the former Eagles owner.  He's now something like 0 for 20 in suits he's brought in Florida.

1 of whom is moving to Va, so down to 19 who could possibly enjoy the new park.

 The Eagles can't win Super Bowls, court cases, anything.  I bet Andy Reid is still trying to win at Pong against someone.

20?  C'mon, gimme a break.  Enough with all this exaggeration BS about the Marlins attendance.  Hell, I've personally seen upwards of 2 or 3 hundred at some games.

The stadium has been officially delayed until 2012 - and that's only if groundbreaking begins in May.  With all the stupid delays that still don't fix a d*mn thing, its going to be called Microsoft Stadium.

See ya Hanley!
