Whatever. I really don't give a care about the crappy O's and their terrible franchise. They can re-locate to Sacramento for all I care.
I think they should contract the league and fold that and the Marlins' franchise.  Go back to 14 teams in each league with 7 teams in each division.  Have two division winners and two wild cards in the playoffs.  I think it'd be good for the competitive balance of the league and get rid of two franchises whose owners don't really care about their teams.

Did anyone look at the braves website before the first game? One of the news headlines were "Braves refuse to lose to lowly Nationals".

Kind of obvious that Eckstein was jerking off for 7 innings.

As long as he keeps winning, I am fine with that

One oddity at the ballpark today: despite there being 31K in the house, a large number of the concessions in the 300 level were closed, including most of the ones along the inner concourse (thankfully not including the beer bar outside section 305).

Didn't notice the closings, but then again, I didn't make it to the 300's.

Incidentally, I feel that Kasten should make me an honorary season ticket holder.  That's 4-0 at the new ballpark for me!  Combined with last year's debacle against the Phillies, I still have a 5-2 overall record when I attend Nats games!

this season long 6 game winning streak is a tantalizing taste of what this team WILL become in 09.

What? Can someone explain this one to me? I just got back, haven't even seen the box yet...
...and isn't Eckstein a Cardinal?

He's the hitting coach we called up to "help out." He's David Eckstein's brother.

Is it the first time in team history? (That's what I meant)

no. we had a 10 game winning streak in '05.

We actually did it twice in '05. We swept the Pirates and Cubs back to back in late June/early July but we did even better in early June when we won 10 straight including sweeps over the Marlins, A's and Mariners. We actually won 15 out of 17 and 26 out of 32 during that stretch.

Damn, it's sad that the recent past had swept those wonderful memories out until you reminded me.
