I'm so happy for Art.  What a class act.  I knew Green would get it, but it was looking like Art might never.  Great news!

I knew he was going to make it when they eliminated Reed in the first cut and Carter in the second. Too bad Grimm didn't make it. It would've made it that much sweeter. I guess we now know that the Redskins will play their first preseason game on August 2 (exactly 26 weeks from today) in Canton. Andre Tippett, Gary Zimmerman and Emmitt Thomas (who coached our DB's for 2 of our SB victories) also were elected so they could potentially be facing New England, Denver or Kansas City in that game.

This FANTASTIC news. I am sooooo happy for Art Monk. As expected, Darrell Green made it on his 1st year of eligibility, but this is also fantastic news for him. Grimm will make it in, I'll bet on it.

I believe Grimm will be inducted, eventually. It may not be next year though (next year's class is thick with sure fire HOF'ers). Other than that the Redskins don't have many more from the Joe Gibbs era that will merit serious consideration. Charles Mann is in the discussion but I believe he will rightly fall shy. Gary Clark should seriously be considered but he too will fall short. Also, I believe Joe Jacoby should be in the HOF. Brian Mitchell is an eventual HOF'er. Other than Mitchell, Grimm and Jacoby they don't have anymore HOF worthy candidates.

I'm not as familiar with Football as I am with Baseball.  Do you think Tagliabue (sorry if I spelled it wrong) will make it in?

Yes he will eventually. The game exploded in popularity during his tenure. There is no rush to put him in though since this was his first year of eligibility. There will be a year (probably not next) when there won't be such an impressive list and he should go in then.

I thought he was eligible at least once before because articles say he was slighted AGAIN.  How many years can you be on the ballot?  Do you know the details.  If not, I'll look them up!

As a casual (even that my be overstating my interest) fan of football, I could never understand why Monk wasn't in the Hall. It seems he was an important part of 4 super bowl teams and held several records when he retired. Anyway congratulations to both Monk & Green.

I would love to see Grimm in, as well as Clark, Jacoby and Mitchell.

I love that State Farm commercial that starts off showing a big clip of the 19803 Redskins, including Dave Butz - you can tell it's him because of the scratched up helmet (remember how Madden always talked about that?!).  They conclude the commercial showing Jacoby lifting up the Lombardi trophy.  Glory Days alright!

The Redskins will play the Colts in the Hall of Fame game on August 3 (which is 25 weeks from yesterday ).
