I don't know what they saw in him to draft him, but something has clicked. They actually paid him $125K so they must have thought he was more than just an 18th round pick.

It looks like his 1st year at USF (2021), they won the AAC and their regional in Gainsville. His numbers don't jump out. He had some juco too in 2019-20. Was on a state championship team in high school. 90s fastball and a good slider are what were mentioned in the article

Started today: 6IP, 3H, 2ER, 1BB, 5Ks, ERA up to 2.27. All the damage came on a first inning 2R HR.

Only 7 starts in the high minors, but generally low HRs and strong K/BB at all levels so far.
