I know we picked him up off the waiver wire, but his minor league numbers are very impressive. I'm happy to see them trying to use him as a starter.

2018 - 128 IP in A Ball 2.95 ERA 1.26 WHIP 131 Strikeouts
2019 - 119.1 IP in A+ Ball 1.89 ERA 1.02 WHIP 103 Strikeouts
2021 across AA/AAA - 110.1 IP 2.61 ERA 0.96 WHIP 145 Strikeouts

In 2022, Tampa converted him to a reliever and he has posted a 3.51 ERA in 66.2 IP in AAA. He got a cup of tea with the big league team out of the pen, but did not do well enough to stick.

only allowed two hits in his first start, but both were home runs: 2⅓ IP, 2H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, 3K, 2HR

Watching him develop, he challenges hitters in the zone with his fastball. That’s his bread and butter. He’ll lean on that,’’ Ibach said. “It’s got good carry. Hitters will tell you it’s a tough pitch to pick up and a tough pitch to barrel up."

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound righthander struggled when he first moved from Double-A Montgomery to Triple-A Durham in late July. He eventually found his groove and finished strong, going 5-0, 0.50 over his last six starts, allowing 13 hits over 35.1 innings while striking out 47.

His 2.61 ERA ranked 10th in the minor leagues among pitchers with at least 100 innings.
