Why did Davey not start clutch MVP Howie Kendrick in such a critical game?

Plus Cabrera went 2-4 with a double. So unclear what the big issue is. Plus Howie probably doesn’t do well with 3 games in a row.

Ass Cab was the least of our problems last night. Now if you want to say Howie should have started in LF or at 3rd, then you would have an argument.

Howie Kendrick is rough in the field. Cabrera hits Greinke well

Cabrera went 2-4 and Howie Kendrick had a pinch hit single. Those two did their jobs last night.

Cabrera's double was about a foot or so from tying the game. This game was lost because they failed at the plate not because of the manager's decision. They flailed at pitches outside the zone all night long and the astros made good contact on Sanchez (even some of the outs were well hit). Rendon and Soto were horrendous and had awful AB's.

I wonder if some of the national spotlight that Soto is getting went to his head and distracted him a tad last night?

I would find a way to get Howie on the field. You can’t leave a bat like that on the bench in such a critical game.

That is a leap to a conclusion that just has no basis. Ever think the Astros pitched him well ?

Soto had a couple solid at bats that didn't result in hits.

Rendon had a tough night at the plate. It happens, even for the stars.

It's one scenario of many to explain what happened last night. We're not talking absolutes like 2+2=4 with no other possible outcomes.

People often forget the other 29 teams also have expensive rosters lead by high paid management. And that they also scout and game plan against the Nationals.

Sometimes you have to tip the cap to the opponent.
