Look at the experts videos and reviews after the expansion draft. GMGM got ripped for not taking the best players from every team. How many teams would have traded their rosters with vegas? The whole gifted argument is plain whining. Only Neal and Perron were 2nd line players. Everyone else was a 3rd liner or a player that was scratched often by their respective teams. What dman on Vegas would crack the Preds vaunted top 4 dmen? None.

Expert vision is quite often better in hindsight:

The Golden Knights benefitted from three things: NHL Expansion Draft rules more favorable than in the past, entering the NHL alone and the NHL Salary Cap.

I keep readin' about the Knights not expected to be in the Cup Final.    Raise your hand if you picked the Caps to be here.

80% of the so-called experts picked the Lightning to beat the Caps in the ECF (while many admittedly rooted for Ovi to break thru this year)...and while it's a mindfact, I'd bet that close to 100% of the so-called experts picked the Pinguins to beat the Caps in the Semi's.

I know that I didn't "believe" until they got past Pittsburgh...

12 of 14 so-called NHL.com experts had neither the VGN or or the Caps in the Final...after the Conference semi's!
