Thornton has started throwing a sinker a lot more often. He was never a good fit for the crappy infield defense the Yankees role out there every day.

Keep in mind that the Nats took on $4.5M in salary but with the luxury tax, the Yankees shed closer to $6M in salary.

if he keeps pitching like he did last night he's a closer in waiting should soriano collapse.  It probably means we don't see barrett until September though.

The Mets announcers kept saying he was an 8th inning guy.  He had been given a couple opportunities to close and not done well.

Not going back to reread the whole thread but somebody else mentioned he doesn't have the make-up to close.    Hell, it could have been Ray or one of the earlier posters in this thread.
