I give up on Linux.
« Topic Start: February 16, 2012, 05:00:24 PM »
I can't do it anymore.

Tired of playing Distro-hop to try and find one that works and that will run the programs that I want without fuss, on my computer with its lower specs.

tired of the terminal, tired of having to burn cds and usb pen drives every couple of weeks. tired of having to google search for ways to get the programs I want to work with *insert linux distro*.

I'm getting a windows XP disc from a friend, and I am installing that. and then when I can afford it, I am buying a brand new computer with windows 7(or 8, whatever) on it. I don't care how much Microsoft and Windows sucks and open source is god and all that other crap.

what I care about is easy installation and use of everything that I want to use on my computer.

I quit. back to Windows.

Before you quit, stop fiddling with it. Most of the people who get frustrated are tweaking it too much. Seriously.

I'm gonna dual-boot XP and Xubuntu on this laptop for now, since I have a 500gb HD in it.

and then when I get a new computer, it is going to be strictly Windows, cause I am going to try to get a laptop or desktop that is suitable for gaming.

What type of games you looking to run?

MMORPGs mostly.

but yeah, regular games like what you can get from Steam.

I think my main Gaming platforms going forward will be Steam and Onlive.

and since you can't run either on Linux....

Why can't you afford 800 bucks for a laptop that will run WIndows 8 with no problems?

well...I got a better laptop.

Windows 7 Premium, dual core processor, 4GB of RAM, ATI Radeon discrete graphics...

I've already gotten a BSOD on it.

rethinking Linux, maybe that the OS wasn't the problem, and maybe I was just using a crappy computer.
