Development Around Nats Park Not Living Up To Its Pitch
« on: July 01, 2010, 10:30:35 am »
In today's Washington Post, Robert McCartney writes:

Justin Ross opened Justin's Cafe on First St. SE eleven weeks ago.  He and other investors in the changing community hope that eventual success for the Nationals will help realize the vision of a vibrant downtown district on the Anacostia Waterfront.  They'd better be patient.  The Nats might have their first winning season before the once-seedy neighborhood gets completed.  The problem - a major financial crisis in which banks are still scared to lend.  Here's the whole article:

Doesn't that pretty much sum up the whole article?

Absolutely no news in that article for those of us who are paying attention to the development around the area.

That's the main thrust but there's more about what happens on days Strasburg pitches, how long before even a couple of new buildings will be completed, etc.  I thought it was worthwhile posting.

Thanks Linty!  I was feeling badly until you said something. :(

It's a shame the development process has taken so long.  It mirrors the Nats development process, lol.

But this park and surrounding area could be a huge hit like San Diego/Chicago/etc ... hopefully it picks up pace soon.

Thank you fan for posting this.

Most of us aren't following the daily ebb and flow of investment capital into (or out of) the area.

I didn't mean to make you feel bad, my apologies.  I was just lamenting the lack of development due to economic concerns.

We've come to expect such insults from you Chief.  You should be a panelist on the McLaughlin Group

That's funny...that show is like monkeys raising the level of discourse by throwing poo at each other and beating the ground with sticks.

It's weird when you move away from DC and find that there's half as much political yammering on TV on sunday morning.

I watch the Cartoon Network, not much yammering going on there.
