So, tell me again why Toronto wanted the G20 summit?
« on: June 28, 2010, 03:22:37 pm »
Good lord...

Yeah, it was probably a good idea to move those games this weekend.  Shouldn't have been in Philly, but that's a different discussion.  The other discussion is how did they not know when the G20 summit was and schedule around that?  They've scheduled around big events like that before...

They should have just built an away series into the schedule for Toronto. But yeah, very disappointing for Jays fans who wanted to see Halladay.

The G20 should probably stay away from big cities in the future.  Palm Beach or Aspen might fit the bill...all the amenities that financial wallahs and their spouses expect, and few local riffraff to spoil the party.

How about a cruise ship, like the Nimitz?

It's like the same couple of hundred people that follow them around and use it as an excuse to break crap.  They get together in between summits, do shrooms, compare stories, screw each other's girl/boyfriends and wait till the next one to come along.

It's not exactly a cause that's going to create a ground swell of support.

No, you're wrong here.  Too similar to 1960's and that didn't help the public view of sheriffs

QTF.

We get these little craps in our neighborhood all the time when World Bank and IMF meet. They come in, protest 'whatever', vandalize property that our tax dollars get to fix, defile property that personal owners have to fix, line up at the startbucks with the gift cards mummy and daddy sent them for their birthdays, and all around feel 'radical'. They can't even get together on a real message.

Palm Beach and Aspen don't have the security infrastructure to host an event like the G20. Trust me, those protesters will find their way to PB/Aspen and the amount of hell they will bring down on those cities would be much more crippling than the relative hell they left on Toronto and Pittsburgh.

They should just do them in DC then.  This town definitely has the security infrastructure to control whatever these guys want to throw at it.

If they choose to.  They certainly did nothing to stop the mob that rampaged through Adams Morgan on the night of dubya's second "inauguration"...(why those trustifarian retards thought that destroying property in an area where probably not one republican vote has been cast since the 1930s is beyond me).

[edit: I hated Bush/Cheney and the paranoid police state they created as much as anyone, but the anarchy symbols and smashed windows on my block certainly did little to warm me up to the protesterati]

Just put it in a place where there won't be protestors. I doubt the protestors would have the balls to go to Dubai or Singapore

Guantanamo.  It's got cell space available in case the protesters show up.

Hold it in Philadelphia, they can't do more damage than Wilson Goode did.

Would it be possible to have it in a secret place which no one knows about, like a resort in the middle of Siberia?

I just had a great idea: they should hold it in Tel Aviv. I'd pity the protestors.

If they held it in Tel Aviv, 19 out of the G20 would not show up.
