Maybe I'm splitting hairs here but aren't Fangraphers the same folk who strenuously deny that a batter has any control over where the ball goes? Saying LaRoche is "creating his own luck" doesn't seem to jive with that.
Kind of- I think they acknolwedge that hitters have some control over ground/drive/fly, but no control beyond that
