No the point was that scoreboard operators rely on the umpire's to do their job and a lot of times they (the scoreboard operators) are wrong for one reason or another so it wouldn't be a good thing for the umpire to rely on the scoreboard operator for the count...today they have Stairs listed twice in the lineup... 
my point in referencing the scoreboard last night was that if he lost count, all he had to do was look up and see the "3" under the ball count and hopefully know the next number would be 4!
