I think Zimm will be with the team for the forseeable future. Not signing a long term deal was in his interest as well as the team's.

next year zimmerman might not be on the team, because if he was "the future"
the would have gave him that multi-year deal, who knows,
the nats have only been together 2 years there are going to bad and good times, soon
