How soon after arbitration is accepted can a player be traded? FA contracts have a time protection of like 60 days? I wonder if they would do Willingham for Wagner with Boston paying for Wagner . . .

Interesting idea.  The Nats can avoid giving up the second rounder that way.  I am not sure who would pay what.  I don't see the Nats getting salary relief on Willingham, Wagner for no cost, and the Red Sox losing out on the comp pick as an inducement to trade (sell) Willingham.  Perhaps agreeing to pick up the difference between the arbitration awards.  Nats effectively get their reliever and keep the #2 pick in exchange for Willingham. I'd still like a prospect back for the Nats, too.
