So "he" means the Nationals. I thought Natinals was the only other way to spell it. 
I'm pretty sure that blade cuts both ways.
HE, as in, he goes out and pitches a game that the Nats win. Look I am not going to get caught up on semantics and I will look through all the game logs to prove my point after the game.
