From what I understand, this has a bit more to do with a "gentlemen's" agreement between MLB and the Japanese leagues. Some teams are avoiding bidding on this kid because it violates an agreement between the leagues and the Japanese pro leagues are saying that any MLB team negotiating with this kid is in violation. Some are willing to be scumbags, I guess (Boston).
