5-Year WS Reunion Celebration - April 20
« Topic Start: April 12, 2024, 04:00:07 PM »
Game is April 20 at 4:05 vs Houston. First 20k fans get a WS replica ring.

NavyYardNats says that Howie Kendrick will be in attendance. Besides Rainey, Corbin, Parra, Robles, and Doolittle who are still involved with the team, I'd imagine Zimm will be there. Wander Suerro is currently with Houston but is currently with their AAA team.

Looking just at the WS Roster:

Others who are out of baseball and could possibly attend: Strasburg, Anibal Sanchez, Fernando Rodney, Javy Guerra, Matt Adams, Asdrubal Cabrera, Brian Dozier, Kurt Suzuki, and Adam Eaton.

With other teams / still active: Daniel Hudson, Joe Ross, Max Scherzer, Trea Turner, Anthony Rendon, Juan Soto, Michael A. Taylor, Yan Gomes.

2019 playoff players who didn't make the WS Roster: Austin Voth (Seattle), Hunter Strickland (LAA), Roenis Elias (Retired)

Who am I missing?

The glue – – AKA Andrew Stevenson. Always remember him as part of the wildcard scoring since he pinch ran for Zimmerman.

Did they say when the festivities for the day start?

Once this is done, can the organization put this to bed? Seems like its always being referenced and the team is way different now.

Trent Grisham.  It wouldn't be the same without him...

The Lerner's are probably gonna make Howie pay his own Amtrak fare...

The Nats need to find a way to steal Howie from the Phillies.

No Strasburg. No matter how he feels about team ownership and management it's kind of an FU to the fan base considering that his contract is a large part of the reason why we are in rebuild mode.

I’m glad that if Octavio Martinez isn’t available, the well-known Octavio Martinez impersonator “Octavio Mattinez” is.

(Great proof reading there)

Of what?  The Tenth Year celebration?

What would be bigger than celebrating a World Series title with your former teammates...the World Series that you were crowned the MVP?

This is straight up bullcrap on someone's part...

What would be bigger is celebrating Strasburg on his own, retiring his uniform #, and putting his name in the ring of honor.

That's straight up bullcrap.  If he doesn't wanna be a part of the team celebration, then freak him and the horse he rode in on...

I can’t get mad at him after what he did for the team and especially in 2019.  Apparently negotiations with the ownership were not so great and think the wounds are still open.  Didn’t he write a nice note to the fans?

Edit. I will add that he may still feel awkward in public if he really can’t do much with his right arm.

This. I don't get the hate for the guy from someone who claims to be a Nats fan. There's no world series without Strasburg, and the guy has given a good chunk of his health for this team.

Save the disdain for Rendon.

Gates open at 1:45pm for season plan holders and 2:45pm for the general public

Just caught this little slice of detail. It used to be that they would open the centerfield gate and stand two hours before, as well as the terrace on the weekend. Now, it’s down to 80 minutes even on the weekend. After observing shorter times with the pitch clock, it seems they may really be maximizing the opportunity to reduce the cost of being open any later than they have to be.

It also may figure to be a logistical delight for people lining up at the gate until 2:45 PM hoping to get themselves and their kids the leftovers of the 20,000 replica rings that the plan holder portion didn’t secure.
