Does Ruiz need contacts? He’s been awful behind the plate with passed balls recently. These are getting labeled wild pitches, but these are just standard breaking pitches that any competent catcher should block. He’s been a mess defensively in every way this year.

He's an offensive driven catcher. He's basically Wilson Contreras

I agree with that assessment but man, he has to be better than that. That’s the type of stuff that gets you ticketed for first base.

Gore will be pulled unless the first hitter is a lefty. 9Ks is nice. whole outing was nice.

Quality performance from Gore all things considered. Unlucky to give up that blooper and then have Ruiz essentially cost him that second run on the night. Good to see him go full frontline starter and clean up the rest of the inning.
