Another game which shows the folly of the Nations League in a year when there's a major tournament (Southgate and Deschamps have used these 'glorified friendlies' to try out experimental sides / fringe players before the serious stuff, in Qatar). I always thought that the NL should exclude the major nations, to allow the tournament to be as UEFA intended - one where the lesser nations (who never qualify for the major tournaments) would have something to play for. This year has just brought the whole concept into disrepute. For England, the result looks bad but, under the circumstances, probably predictable.
