Wait until you are 60 and that 8 foot step ladder doesn't seem so appealing anymore. I used to be fearless, but I won't go on my roof anymore. 
Hell, I'm 45 and have hated ladders since my late 20's. Granted, I just buy the laser dot lights to cover the front of my place, rather than pay someone to hit the roof, but yeah, I can see people paying for the service.
