Philadelphia looks on the faces of the grounds-crew. "Baseball? Baseball here?" Same thinking as the Nats' CF in the late '40s who, legend says, took off from 1B on a hit-and-run, a long fly ball to deep right-center. He had touched 3B by the time the ball came down in an outfielder's glove. Went back to 1B the short way...just at the edge of the mound. Arch McDonald "No! Go back! What's he doing??"

I guess it's better than drain pipes in the OF at Yankee Stadium.

It still makes me :smh: to think that the weather this evening was fine but the field was unplayable.
