I have no confidence in Gio in a playoff game.  His postseason career has been awful.  You can expect 4 to 5 innings, 3 runs, at his best.  The bullpen will have to bail us out and the offense will have to score at least 4.  All this is possible but it's asking alot.

This is why it is such a shame that Scherzer didn't pitch game 2.  Even though we won.  If He'd pitched yesterday he would have been ready for game 5.  I'm sure that management took that into consideration which makes it all the more disturbing; he needed that extra day of rest, it wasn't discretionary. Something's wrong.

But if Max had pitched game 2 then the Nats would be in the same position, tied 1-1, but with Gio starting on the Road. Now hopefully you can win Game 3 and still have Stras to go.
It’s clear that Max has an injury. So why not give him the extra 2 days?
