Thanks to all of you. I wish the two of the Milky Way were somewhat crisper, but you know what, given that it was my first real effort at night-sky photography (given all the light pollution in Northern Virginia!), I can't complain too much. For the final night-sky photo, I would have gotten a better result had I placed the camera somewhere else. The first bunch of photos all had the tripod set up in the middle of the B&B's driveway. But for a 25-minute exposure I didn't want to leave the tripod set up where someone else might trip over it, so I put it on the patio outside our room, went inside, closed the door, and tripped the shutter via the remote control. There was no artificial light out there, but I guess a long exposure is going to result in the building being too visible. Oh well. All the more incentive to make sure we take another trip to a "dark sky" region at some time soon, right?!
