Because he didn't spend all that much time in AAA last year and could use more experience. It's not like he lit up the majors in his call-up anyway. No need to rush a guy who may not be ready when we have a guy in Souza who clearly is ready and who can serve a larger role. (Assuming that Souza can play first.)
