In other scouting news, the Nationals have hired former Reds third baseman-left fielder Brandon Larson and former Nationals farmhard Justin Bloxom as new amateur scouts. Bloxom spent six years in the Nationals’ minor leagues, reaching Class AA Harrisburg, where he spent two and a half seasons. He was released and finished the year in the Braves minor leagues.Bloxom, who the Nationals selected in the 11th round of the 2009 draft, is just 26 and decided he wanted to become a scout. He attended scout school. This week, he will meet a few of the current Nationals scouts in Nashville to watch Vanderbilt play fall ball.“He’s excited and we’re excited,” Kline said. “We know he’s going to work hard.”
