Kendrick yielded three runs on seven hits over six innings in his last start, on Monday
at St. Louis. He walked one and struck out one, with 58 of his 89 pitches going for
strikes. The right-hander yielded just four hits, including two infield singles, through
the first five innings. He ran into trouble in the sixth and surrendered an RBI single to
Albert Pujols and a two-run homer to Ryan Ludwick.
On Monday, Redding pitched in his first game since Sept. 5 and gave up four runs in
four innings against the Mets. He didn't figure in the decision as the Nationals rallied
to win the game, 12-4. Redding must do a better job keeping the ball down. He has
walked 36 batters in 72 1/3 innings.
