Closers are the most overrated players in baseball. The key is to have several guys in the pen who are capable of doing it instead of giving a Rafael Soriano contract to someone. Situations like St. Louis' with Edward Mujica and Boston with Koji Uehara where some random reliever takes over as the closer and does well happen all the time in the MLB. (Casey Janssen with Toronto last year, Fernando Rodney for Tampa last year, Kyle Farnsworth for Tampa the previous year, etc.)
