This is the only promotion for the entire season that is offered to that many people. I think it's a calculated move, recognizing that the Nationals are now the NL team supported by still-loyal O's fans. DC has always been a transient town due to the federal government and associated contractors, so there will be lots of Nationals fans loyal to other teams too.
If they stick around, their children will be Nationals fans.
You'd think having a Father-in-Law who works for ExxonMobil I'd have an in on a cap even though I can't make the game...
