ATTENTION ALL WASHINGTON NATIONALS FANS: IT’S TIME TO TAKE BACK THE PARK

Washington-area fans are encouraged to show their Nationals pride by taking part in special presale for the first Phillies series of 2012

The Washington Nationals today launched Take Back the Park, an exciting initiative that encourages local Nationals fans to purchase tickets for the first three games against the Philadelphia Phillies before they go on sale to the general public.

Beginning today, single game tickets for the May 4-6 Nationals vs. Phillies series will only be available to season ticket holders and fans who reside in Washington D.C., Maryland or Virginia. This exclusive presale will ensure that the team’s most loyal fans have the first opportunity to purchase tickets to cheer on the Nationals when they play their NL East rivals to the north.

As an added benefit, season ticket holders can apply their exclusive discount for single game tickets during this presale. All season ticket holders will receive an email with instructions on how to order tickets using the discounted rate.

To take advantage of this offer, Washington-area fans can visit nationals.com/ourpark starting today to register for the presale. Upon verification, they will receive a one-time-use password to complete the order. The Nationals will also verify matching registration and billing information so that tickets are only mailed to local addresses in D.C., Maryland or Virginia in March.

Fans may purchase a minimum of two tickets and up to eight tickets per game in one transaction, while supplies last. For more information on Take Back the Park or to purchase tickets, visit nationals.com/ourpark.

Tell me that you've cancelled all of the Philly bus trips, otherwise, I'm boycotting the Park that weekend.

Gotta say that while taking back the park does sound great, Comish does make an excellent point, this is kind of like an arms dealer selling to both sides.  Hey Nats fans, let's take back the park, we'll give you seats right behind the blocks of tickets we already sold to the tour bus operators.

Is this like a game of capture the flag, where you do advance group sales to the drunken Philth, and now we have to take back the Park? We wouldn't have to take it back if you hadn't given it away.

You may be correct, however the "FU" was not necessary, I was only passing along the information...   :'(

What kind of discount do you get to help the Nats Take Back the Park? Oh, nothing.... well done Nats.

Ya, well, they gotta start somewhere.

  • That’s gonna be a no from me, doge.

Is that necessary? SCSManager is a guest here, and he doesn't have to be here. In fact, outside of a couple players, he's the only person from the Nats to stop by and visit us here at the best Nats fan board, sadly. Can we not run him off?

Since you started this thread SCSMGR, could you go into details about what the FO is doing to prevent Phillies fans from invading again other than a pre-sale? I believe there was a report recently that ticket managers are still selling to Philly bus companies. Could you comment on that?

Dang folks...everyone's naged about the Phillies fans taking over the park, and now the Nats are trying to do something about it and people are still nagging.  Baseball is a business and they want to fill the stadium.  This is at least a start, so give them a break...

I think it's a pretty good idea.  I just snagged 4 for Friday night.

It's kind of like the methodology that the Caps used as they started to "take over" their own building years ago.  Baby steps...

Thanks for the info!  No one likes the Phillie fans.  I will be there even though I think the Nats have done a poor job in the past by inviting Philly fans in group packages.  Let's keep them out of here.

No need for the FU

Hey thanks for stopping by and thanks for the info.  I also got the email from Feffer.

Most Nats fans will appreciate these kinds of steps.  Some (many?  most?) are still bitter about Kasten inviting Philly fans to come to DC and the home opener against Philly a couple of years ago was particularly distasteful.

I hope we see more efforts like this to help build the DC fan base.

...the advantages of being an incumbent/renewed STH...I don't have to worry about sitting behind Phillies supporters because my seat is in a front row (in an area of the ballpark that's already largely STH - never had any incidents in that area).

Well the FU came from Commish and not me so I'll let him respond to that one.  But you had to know that the Philly invasions are the single most sore subject among Nats fans and as a representative of the team you just stuck a stick in the bee hive.

How about the team limiting group sales for Philly groups to 30 days before the game?  As it stands this offer is really just playing Nats fans off against Philly fans and they still have the advantage; this offer seems to be simply a lure to encourage impulse buys.

I thought we left no survivors after taking over Citizen's Bank Park and renamed it Nationals Park North? We need Davey Jones to weed out the invaders with the Kraken and sent them to Navy Yard's Locker. Oh yeah, and save the "FUs" for the Ph**kers that came to the park. They are the ones that deserve it.

Yeah, really, wtf? We finally get someone from the Nats posting here and they get an FU? Whatever. Know that most of us appreciate your posting here and would be really, really disappointed to lose you, CSMGR. We have a grand total of one Nats employees, players or otherwise, posting here and thats the reply they get? So much for the chances of that number ever increasing. I would say, it would have made sense to give a discount to these games to everyone. I am a STH, so I get the discount rate, but a discount would have made sense. Also, whats up with the minimum of two tickets per order? As a STHer, I already have one ticket to these games, but might have bought an extra for a guest. I don't have two additional people available to go with, so the two minimum impacts me significantly.

Great gesture.
For this, I will be occupying my seats rather than trying to sell them to Fillies phans on Snub Hub

Besides, we've got a 4 game winning streak going against the Fillies, let's keep the streak alive!

Ditto.  I would rather enjoy a day out at the ballpark vs. say the Reds w/out the drunk idiots trying to prove how awesome Philly is by swearing every 5 seconds.

I'll stand by my initial gut response - with a slight edit - the "F" is more for the Nats - I didn't mean to shoot the messenger. But to be honest, I haven't been impressed by the messenger. Sure, it's nice someone from the Natsis on the board, I just haven't seen a lot of value added.

And, yeah, I'm still stung by the many times that the Drunken Philth from the North has invaded Nats park. After the opening day debacle, I would have hoped that the Nats front office would have learned something, but nope. The Phillie games are just a money grab and demonstrate the continued lack of respect towards Nats Fans. I take the continued group sales to Philth as an FU to me as a consumer.

So, "F" the Nats - if they don't like my attitude they shouldn't have pre-sold Phillie groups.

If the Nats want the Phillies money, fine, but just know this, as a fan, it's a game that I will avoid. And I will make sure that any  parents and families that are planning on going to that game will know what they are in for.

That's a great suggestion for NATCSMGR about the security.  The Nats really need to up it significantly for those Philly games.  It was really bad where I was sitting two years ago.  You wouldn't want your kids there.

Cleaned up a the thread a little...  nothing wrong with people expressing their feelings, but I believe we should be capable of doing it civilly.
