Capital Weather Gang's NatCast calling for 'Small shower chance but, otherwise, should be an error-free evening at least on the weather's part' with temperatures of 77 at first pitch and 69 by ninth inning, 20% chance of rain.

---

Should have a pretty good group in the place tonight for Harper's home debut - the attendance records to beat:

43,618 on Thursday 14th April 2005 - Best-ever attendance against Diamondbacks (of course that was the debut home opener at RFK)
41,517 on Tuesday 23rd June 2009 vs Red Sox - Best-ever Tuesday home attendance (RFK best for that day of the week was 40,516 for the 2006 home opener against the Mets)
35,334 on Sunday 17th April 2005 - Best-ever home attendance against Diamondbacks (non-Opening Day; again of course at RFK)
27,330 on Thursday 10th July 2008 - Best-ever Nats Park attendance against Diamondbacks

Diamondbacks have historically been a moderate-to-poor draw here; three of the five lowest attendances in the Nats' RFK history were for an April weekend series against that team in 2007, and on six different occasions they failed to crack the 20k mark at Nats Park - although for the Nats Park record low (17,029) there was a valid excuse - that day was 23rd August 2011, the day of the earthquake.

Could somebody check section 117 for Andre Hawthorne ?  He is the usher in that section and he fended off two pit bulls this weekend saving the lives of a couple of kids.

Cahill sucks. He's given up 4 ER in each of his last two starts and is 0-2 in those starts.

Now watch him shut us down.  That tends to happen a lot with this team.

Two starts encapsulates his career?

Weren't both of those in Arizona?

They were; he has away wins at San Diego and Colorado (http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/gamelog/_/id/30054/trevor-cahill).

(One earned run allowed in 7 1/3 innings pitched in that pitchers' graveyard known as Coors Field - that isn't shabby.)

How many Nats will be plunked on orders of Gibson?

Yep.  His other two starts (@SDP and @COL) he let up a total of 2 ER in 13.1 innings.  He gets lit up occasionally, but overall he is a pretty good pitcher.

edit:  Chelsea beat me to the punch.  As a side note, this will be Cahill's first start at Nats park.

On the flip side, this will be Zimm's 27th start at Nat's Park, where he holds a record of 7-10 with an ERA of 3.63 and WHIP 1.20 with 108 SO and 35 BB.

Why Ramos? I have noticed in the past that if a DBack player is even brushed back Gibson will not hesitate to throw at a hitter.

Because of his epically slow HR trot last year in Arizona.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the benches cleared at some point during this series.

We need to get Vinny Castilla out of retirement, he has an unavenged grudge against the D-Backs as well.

What would be great is if the stands cleared and the Nasty Nats and their fans lived up to their billing.

I'd be disappointed in the Nats if it didn't happen.
