We were about 5 years old. Had a scuffed baseball (no softball), one bat, and everybody had a cheap glove. Played in a vacant lot across the alley from our houses in Michigan Park neighborhood of NE. Down at the end of the block was a bigger vacant lot where Big Kids played.
We did not need spikes or uniforms or batting gloves.
Did not need helmets and shoulder pads and knee pads and all the rest of football gear.
Elitist? Bosh!
