Seems to me that Appel is pretty much screwed. When he's drafted again next year, he'll have to take whatever he's offered or go pitch in independent ball for a year.
Next years draft isn't suppose to be loaded, so there s a pretty good chance of him being taken top 5, barring injury. He does lose a little leverage, but I think that little bit will help a team feel comfortable taking him there. Pittsburgh would've gone higher on the price if they could. Slot or a bit above(with the strategy we employed in later rounds) should help him be fine if he's taken top 5.
