In good news for the Nats, if they manage to win today, they gained/lost no ground on Phillies/Braves who also lost 2/3 in their series.

It's possible that Jayson Werth really is the clubhouse presence that Phil Wood and others claim he is, and the team just sort of lost its footing for a couple of days.

Go Nats!

Is Werth not traveling with the team?

No. He's at home.

Kilgore said it best last night:

Quote from: Adam Kilgore
I just filed an awfully bleak game story for a team on a 97-win pace.

We've won 8 of 10 series, tied for first (as Linty said) ... but with our pitching, we've missed out on countless opportunities.  I think this team should be 20-10 right now at worst.  But you need all facets of the game to win ... pitching, defense AND offense.

it's a great point and I think a lot of my LOD/LAC members would probably toss that theory out, but I believe in it.  Werth, statistically, didn't have a great year one last season.  But a lot of the guys looked up to him and his attitude rubbed off on the right way.  They'll miss him in that aspect and also b/c he's played well this season.

Still, the fact that guys are pressing to drive in runs, isn't because Werth is gone ...

Told the wife this morning, "Strasburg's on the mound."    She's not a sports fan but she knows what that means.

Good news everyone!  I picked up Correia for tonight's game in the rotisserie league.  Nats are going to freaking own him!

I'm hopeful we win but I still see us posting double digit strikeouts.

His cheat sheets prepared by his staff probably told him to say that.

Will a Strasburg start get more people into PNC Park tonight? This series hasn't exactly been drawing - yesterday's announced attendance was 11,478 and the day before was 10,323 (smallest since Tuesday 6th September 2011 when just 9,840 turned up for an Astros visit).

Granted PNC (=People Not Coming) is one of those relax-in-solitary-splendour ballparks, but still....

It is a great place to watch a game tho' - IMHO it's much nicer than Nats Park

I was watching the game last night and marvelling at how much the Triangle skyline has changed.   When I was a kid, what was then the Gulf Building was the tallest.    At night it shown different colors to signify what the weather prediction was.    Went to the observation deck of the Gulf BLDG on a class trip and took a picture of the then Civic Arena  ...  UNDER CONSTRUCTION  ...   LOL     Now it's gone.

I'm flying to Ireland tonight after work.  This will be the first game I miss all season.  And I doubt I'll be able to keep up while I'm in Europe.  Here's hoping I come back to a team that is 27-14!

Strasburg is going to start us off on the winning path again tonight!

I can't figure out why the skyline isn't obstructed by random parking decks.
