Bull Durham.
Sugar.

Those are my two favorites. Major League is fun, obviously.

The Bingo Long book is a lot of fun; Roger Ebert's review said the movie had been fatally simplified and Hollywoodized. Still, that cast is amazing.

I really need to see League of Their Own.

When I was maybe 10 years old I saw The Stratton Story with Jimmy Stewart (it was 20 years old at that time). Just saying, if you want to see them all, you can go all the way back to 1949.

Respectfully disagree - nice movie and I love Vin Scully and J.K. Simmons but the entire plot is ridiculous (perfect game in his final game fighting injury to win back his girlfriend...couldn't it have also been to save earth from zombies?).

I think that's my favorite too but Sugar was fantastic.  Sandlot gets honorable mention because it was hands down one of my kids' favorite movies of any genre.

watched that on Netflix the other night.

Add 'Long Gone' to the list of good baseball movies. It's not 'The Natural' but it was pretty good.

Rookie of the Year is a good kids movie.

Bull Durham is my all-time favorite. 

Other favorites are League of Their Own, Field of Dreams and Major League.

Sugar gave me a lot of insight into what foreign players go through.  42 brought a legend to life, even more than the original Jackie Robinson story which the man himself starred in. Go figure.

I liked "Eight Men Out" because it seemed historically accurate and I think John Cusack is a great actor. I'm surprised that no one has mentioned yet "The Babe" with John Goodman given that the MLBN plays it all the time.

I had not even heard of "Sugar" so I have to catch that now.

I have also not seen "61" so that's on my list.

Not a big fan of "The Natural." It's a bit slow and heavy-handed for me.

Field of Dreams is the perfect litmus test for a relationship. If you're in a relationship with someone who doesn't get it or doesn't like it, dump them and move on. 

42 was an excellent movie. Hugely uncomfortable to watch in spots and frankly, that's one of the best things it could have done.  Hard to watch that sort of behavior and recognize that it was considered normal and okay at one point.

And for sheer fun, League of Their Own is the best of the comedy baseball flicks, IMO. Absolute great performance by Tom Hanks.

Eight Men Out...a good film, but an even better book (Eliot Asinof).

Another baseball film I liked was The Winning Team, about Grover Cleveland Alexander, starring Ronald Reagan.

I'm totally with you on Cage. And I generally am not a fan of Costner. But Field of Dreams (and Bull Durham) are just great flicks.
