wild picture.

I cannot believe how warm it was this AM at 7 when I went out to Dunkins (of course). There's enough sun that I think we will blow by 70 degrees.

Yeah, I thought to myself that it seemed pretty hot inside but kind of ignored it for a good while. Eventually, after my brain saying, 'No really, it's hot,' enough times, I went to check the thermostat. Was up to 77 inside. I killed the space heaters and considered AC but held off. I do love the random rare January day of spring weather.

phone says 79 degrees in Crystal City / Arlington. I wonder if that's pushing a record?

Edit - yes. Tied the record.

Edit #2 - 80. Record
https://www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2024/01/26/dc-record-january-temperature-climate/

Quote
Through early afternoon, Reagan National Airport, the official observing site for Washington, had reached at least 80 degrees, the highest observed in January since records began in 1872.

Friday’s temperature reached 80 degrees earlier than any other year by several weeks. The previous earliest 80-degree temperature in Washington occurred on Feb. 21, 2018. In an average year, Washington doesn’t post its first 80-degree high until March 28.

We had 5.5” of heavy wet snow here in the wilds of the Catoctin Mountains in Frederick County overnight. Mr. WJ73 was thrilled to be able to fire up the big ass snowblower to clear our quarter mile long driveway. A rather large branch broke off a tree over the car, but fortunately it just glanced the car. There might be a few scratches but that’s it.

It sure is pretty, especially now that the sun is trying to come out.

We've had like 3 straight days of 70+ degree weather and it is so tempting to go out and plant some things in the garden. But there's a chance of frost in less than a week! Lousy Smarch weather.
