trying to remember . . . Eindhoven was on the route to Arnhem (bridge too far), right?

Its main claim to fame is that it was home to the Philips electronics company - PSV started out as the Philips factory team.

Eindhoven was the first objective in Operation Market Garden, the closest to Allied lines. Target of the 101st Airborne.

Crystal Palace and Everton is a fun game. Tied up at 2 at the 75 minute mark.

HIghlights of Reims v PSG are worth a look - why Mbappe is Mbappe, and why it's great goalkeeping that wins championships... ;)

thanks. Caligiuri's goal against T&T is well-established in the lore of US Association Football (Asoccer or Soccer, as the Brits called it), but that lore is restricted to US soccer fans.

What I didn't realize is how few of the 1990 team played on the 1994 team. Harkes, Ramos, Caligiuri in a lesser role, Wynalda for more than a cameo, and Meola. I think Friedel beat out Keller as the backup for the 1994 team. The 1994 team featured a few Euros with US parents - Tom Dooley from Germany, Ernie Stewart from Holland, Roy Wegerle I think from South Africa, and maybe a few others. The 1990 team was more US based.

WTF was Sergiñho Dest thinking?!!! Dumbass gets mad at the ref and punts the ball into the stands. Yellow card #1. So he blows the ref a kiss with both hands. Yellow card #2. In the 39th minute.

We're going to Millwall/Coventry City on Saturday.  I figure that it can't be any worse than when the Philligoths sacked Nats Park on opening day in 2010.

I recommend you support Millwall... :hysterical:

Hope you're having a great visit. Staying in London, or venturing further afield? A trip to the East Midlands could take in the unmissable 2 Sisters chicken processing plant...

With qualification assured, the Global Powerhouse used yesterday's game, v North Macedonia, for some experimentation - the result was a lack-lustre 1 - 1 tie. The GP will go into Euro '24 as one of the top seeds.

About 1996, I saw my first and only live game, and became a Spurs supporter because my London friend was a born-and-raised Millwall supporter. I had been giving his kids Redskin jerseys and Super Bowl tee-shirts, and he'd given my son Millwall (Lions) shirts. When I had a weekend in London, I suggested we go to a Millwall game. He said, to my surprise, "No, I won't take you to the Den [or the New Den?]." So we went to White Hart Lane and I became devoted to Spurs.

He was right. For the uninitiated, MIllwall has the reputation of having the most fanatical and violent fans in the country... ;)

We went in peace and were treated well.  Plus walking around the "mean streets" of East London made my home neighbourhood in DC look like Gaza or South Sudan.

Good pies and beer too!
