Dan Uggla is a thorn in our side, as usual.

Beckham is hitting .238 right now which is better than Danny, and is actually hot in the last 7 games batting almost .450

.238? .238 is nothing to brag about. Danny had a hitting streak too, remember. You have to look at the big picture.

That was a situation where having Morse in RF may have cost us a run

yes...I was trying to figure the distance that Werth or Harper could have covered. Maybe they'd have had that...only maybe.

I didn't say it was anything to brag about. It's a hell of a lot better than Danny though lol.

Mantle also hit one to dead-center in old Yankee Stadium that hit a light pole or would have gone out. Probably longest ever in that stadium, which had a CF wall about 500 feet (or longer). Hit off of the Nats' Pedro Ramos.

Mantle's HR that hit the light stanchion on the roof of Yankee Stadium was a pull to right field, not center field.
(I'll try and find a photo.)

Stadia don't have lights in center field.

The big gap in left center was 490 feet.

Yeah I mean Beckham is a career .248 hitter. I'm sure if Danny could hit .248 with 25+ homers and 70 Rbis we would all take that.

Espinosa likely ends the year with a higher OPS than one of the two of Desmond and Lombo.

Wow, Dave just said that Tommy Hanson's average fastball velocity is below 90 this year. He was a beast when he debuted... I wonder if something's wrong.

Ah, his power finally developed. Hitting like that with 10 homers makes you a pile of suck.

Beckham had a great rookie year, then a sophomore slump he never recovered from.

Danny may just have a sophomore slump. I'm not ready to give up on Espinosa until next season.

I just remember the picture in the Washington Post...they had drawn a line that went almost straight up...I think Mantle's Yankee Stadium HR went almost as far up as it did outward.

The old stadium (before Steinbrenner had it gut-rehabbed in '73-74) had Monument Park in play in CF...it was that far in "death valley".

Strange year for him so far. He's a notorious slow starter. He was hot as hell to start this season.
