MLBTR also reporting Imanaga to be posted Monday, so his signing period with overlap with Yamamoto but will extend about a week longer as the consolation prize.

Do the Phillies have enough to trade for Trout?

Yes, easily. The only real question is how much of that contract are they taking.

You been listening to Philly sports talk radio again?  Was a great player but now broken down.

Whatever amount that they would need to eat in Castellanos contract to unload him.

Injury prone, but he still rakes. Last season was a bas season and he put up a 134 wRC+. That was better than any of Philly's OFer and the second best hitter on the team.

Gonna be far more than that.

Castellanos is gonna cost 60 million. Trout still has 245 million left. Figure the Phillies would want the Angels to at least eat the difference over Castellanos contract, plus equivalent amount through the rest. Call it 100 million even for the Phillies to cough up Mick Abel and maybe another prospect (Aidan Miller? Carlos De La Cruz?) Eating 60 million got the Mets Luisangel Acuna, currently the numner 38 prospect on MLB Pipeline. Mayne for a 100+ million, the Angels would expect Painter, particularly if they're taking on Castellanos.

OTOH, if it's just taking Castellanos, they'd probably get a prospect in the 18-25 range on the Phillies top 30 chart.

Trout is good but not very useful if he does not play.  Isn’t his injury a concern going forward.

Hard to say since he missed most of this year.  Only about 235 games over the past three seasons.

Anyway I don’t see anything to these rumors. Just a write proposing it to get clicks.

Assuming the Angels eat some money, that seems pretty fair.

Phillies actually need to revamp their outfield. Harper moves to first and Schwarber becomes full time DH. Castellanos is clearly declining, and at 32, its unlikely to have a rebound. Honestly, if I were the Phillies, I would DH Castellanos and look to trade Schwarber

They’re already revamping the OF.  Rojas will be in CF and Marsh in LF.  Can’t see them trading Schwarber. His offensive stats have been better than Castellanos the past couple years.   He’s the perfect DH.  I think they will be on the hunt for a bullpen piece.

Marsh's numbers are not sustainable. Certainly not a LF level.

Phillies need to add a bat and a starting pitcher if they want to stay competitive in this window.

Their starting rotation is set:  Wheeler, Nola, Suarez, Walker and Sanchez.  They will be fine with a full year from Harper and the real Trea Turner.  Getting Schwarber out of LF helps. A better hitting backup catcher to give Realmuto more rest. Need someone to replace Kimbrel.

Not sure why you think Matsh numbers are not sustainable. He is a second round and was a top prospect for the Angels. And Kevin Long no doubt helps.

Because his BABIP is .397 and his xBA was .233. If the plan is Marsh in LF, they're looking for a middle of the order bat at the deadline.

Nola is a 3 at this point. Suarez and Walker cant stay healthy. Sanchez sucks and should just be moved to the pen. They need another pitcher to go with Wheeler. The emergence of Orion Kerkering and Jeff Hoffman means they dont need to find a replacement for Kimbrel. Never should have done it in the first place, TBH.

I’m not sure why you think Nola is a 3. More likely his ERA this year will be closer to 3.50 than  to 4.50.  He has trouble adjusting to the pitch clock. Whatever number he will give you six innings without getting blown out. Walker pitched over 170 innings. Over 150 the previous two years.  So not clear what injuries you are talking about.  He should be a bit better next season. Ranger’s injuries were not his arm so no real concern there. Look at Sanchez stats.  3.30 ERA.  If that sucks give me more sucks.

I agree they could use a too closer to go with Alvarado.

report is 3 years, $25 million AAV for Gray, and 2 years, $12 million AAV for Maeda. Price seems right for Gray, maybe a touch high, but Maeda I think is a nice deal. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/11/the-opener-gray-maeda-twins-fa-market.html

I think the Braves wanted Sonny.

Detroit is not a contender. I guess they can flip Maeda this year or next. Too bad the Nats won’t spend to do that.

I dunno man, that division is pretty mediocre. If Mize, Skubal, and Manning get stay healthy, they could be a fringe division contender.

I bet that is exactly what Detroit is hoping for. They aren't breaking the bank to try and improve a bit, and if things go south, they aren't committed for long and also could just flip at the deadline. Nats are looking at a much tougher division, and thus, a much harder road to the playoffs.
